Description: scoutlog.gifWelcome to the Home Page of the 1st Pinhoe Scout Group

Who are we?

The Scout Group has 4 sections which cater for children from the age of 6 through to 18.  Click on the links below or on the left of this page to view details of the individual sections.  As a registered charity (no:  271045) we have an executive board as well as a number of helpers and supporters. Leaders are trained through the Scout Association training scheme and all leaders, as well as regular helpers, are CRB checked in line with Scout Association requirements.

What do we do?

1st Pinhoe Scout Group provides a balanced programme of activities across all of the sections to assist the Personal, Intellectual, Social and Spiritual development of the members.   We pride ourselves on organising as many of our activities out-of-doors, we organise visits to local organisations and attractions and have regular visitors to the meeting hut to provide speeches and hand-on activities.  Take a look at the appropriate section’s area of the web site to see what they have been doing recently.  Camping forms a key part of all our activities, we also organise community events, particularly Jumble Sales and the Annual Firework display.

How are we funded?

As a charity we are reliant on fund-raising to allow us to operate.  Each member of the group (beavers, cubs and scouts) pay a subscription which is set by each section.  On top of this we organise Jumble Sales, Bag Packs and other sponsored activities.  We also look for grant opportunities wherever we can get them and also welcome individual donations of any amount to funds.  All donations are gift-aided where possible to allow us to get more money from the Inland Revenue.

Where are we?

1st Pinhoe Scouts are based at the Scout Hut on Langaton Lane, Pinhoe.  The venue is used for all scout sections as well as for the local Rainbows group.  It is available for private hire (subject to availability).  For information on private hire please contact the Secretary (hire@pinhoescouts.org) .

How can I help?

We are always looking for helpers and supporters and are particularly keen to speak to anyone who is interested in becoming a leader.  If you want more information on becoming a Leader or getting more involved in the Scout Group please see the “Big Adventure” area of the scouts web site (http://www.scouts.org.uk/thebigadventure). Alternatively contact the Group (Helpers@pinhoescouts.org). We also welcome individual donations or corporate sponsors.  Please contact the Group Scout Leader to discuss this further (GSL@pinhoescouts.org).

Can I join and which Section should I contact?

The catchment area for 1st Pinhoe Scout Group comprises Pinhoe, Broadclyst and Poltimore.  If you do not live within this area but would like information on who to contact for your area please contact the appropriate section leader via the section links below.   Each of the sections has a maximum capacity that is dictated by the number of leaders and helpers that are available and progress from one section to another (e.g. Beaver to Cubs) is guaranteed if the child wants to continue attending.  Direct entry to the Cubs, Scouts and Explorer’s section is possible subject to total numbers.  Click the logo of the section to discover the activities that they undertake.
